🥳 2024 Wrapped 🥳
This year has been one of the most challenging for the entertainment industry in many years. Facing a difficult climate marked by huge uncertainty and change, it tested everyone’s resilience and adaptability like never before. The beauty of running a privately owned company means you can pivot within seconds, try new ideas and take risks. We’ve had to do that countless times this year to find the right formula and navigate this new normal. Yet, despite the turbulence, we kept optimistic and worked even harder to create major wins for our talent. Given how relentless it is to be an Agent, it isn’t easy to step back fo a minute and recognise the successes. I’ve been able to do that over the past few days and reflect on exciting new hires, quality new signings and some huge triumphs for our super talented roster of actors, creatives, creators, broadcasters, gamers, comedians, musicians and more. Nothing is easy in our industry, and this year took that to a new level which makes my 12th at InterTalent one of the most satisfying ever.
However, and this is me being me, I also have a part of me that is already counting down the days to January to see how we can improve, put some new ideas into play to keep the vision fresh and continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible. I promise I’ll have a couple of mince pies first.
Without a doubt, the biggest win of the year is my team. A company is nothing without its people and my staff (nearly 50 of them now!) across a variety of different industries stepped up day in, day out and continued to remind the entertainment industry why InterTalent is one of the most successful, personable, energetic and fun talent agencies in the UK. There’s no bigger win. Albeit the Paris Olympics, Wimbledon, Buckingham Palace, the BAFTA’s and Hollywood were okay too. Don’t get jaded - never forget to love the fun bits!
Thanks to everyone for reading Dealmakers this year and to those who send lovely messages or give feedback. Thousands of you read it every month and I truly appreciate everyone who subscribes and shares. The life of a Talent Agent, and working within a top Talent Agency, is rarely discussed with any real honesty and openness. No one else was doing it so I thought it would be a great showcase for who I am, what I do and how I think. I hope to bring some more interesting topics to the table next year. Alongside continuing the free monthly blog, I will also be launching a paid subscription for additional Agent-related content that will be more in depth and different from what you can read here (more on that soon). Looks like I’m a content creator now too. How do I get an Agent?
I’ll kick off 2025 with my predictions for the year ahead. I think it’s going to be a fascinating year and one of huge change once again. Everyone must adapt or face being left behind.
For now, in case you missed it or have only recently arrived to Dealmakers, please find below links to all of my blogs from 2024 as well as a few of the stand-out ones that I think still resonates from 2023.
